We accept NHS patients

Many of our patients are seen under the NHS. If you qualify, your eye examination is free, and you may also be entitled to help towards the cost of your spectacles.

Free NHS eye examination

You are entitled to a free eye examination if you fall into one of these categories:

  • Over 60 years of age
  • Under 16 years of age
  • Diabetic
  • Have Glaucoma
  • A student under 19 years of age and in full-time education
  • Registered blind or partially sighted
  • Over 40 years of age and whose mother/father/sister/brother/child has Glaucoma
  • You / your partner are receiving Income Support, Income related JSA or ESA, or Universal Credit
  • With current HC2 or HC3 exemption certificate
  • With complex prescriptions (as defined by the NHS)

Help towards spectacles

You are entitled to help towards spectacles if you fall into one of these categories:

  • Under 16 years of age
  • A student under 19 years of age and in full-time education
  • You or your partner are receiving Pension Credit, Income Support, Income related ESA or JSA, or Universal Credit
  • With current HC2 or HC3 exemption certificate
  • With complex prescriptions (as defined by the NHS)
